- 1). Measure from the collar of the dog to the desired length of the garment. Measure the distance around the dog at this point.
- 2). Cut the T-shirt off 1 inch below the length you measured. Finish the cut edge of the shirt with an overcast or zigzag stitch.
- 3). Fold up 1 inch on the cut edge of the garment and stitch close to the edge to make a casing. Leave a 2-inch opening for threading the elastic.
- 4). Cut a piece of 3/4-inch elastic 1 inch longer than the distance around the dog. Use a safety pin to thread the elastic through the casing. Be careful not to pull the other end of the elastic into the casing.
- 5). Overlap the ends of the elastic 1/2 inch and sew them together. Be sure the elastic is not twisted in the casing.
- 6). Sew the opening in the casing closed.
- 7). Sew marabou trim around the bottom of the shirt just above the casing. Stretch the shirt as you sew on the trim. If you do not stretch the shirt, it will not stretch when you put it on the dog.
- 8). Sew trim around the collar of the shirt in the same way.
