How to Replace Windows 98 With Windows 2000 Pro

    • 1). Back up all your important files.

    • 2). Insert your Windows Upgrade CD into your CD-ROM drive.

    • 3). The "Windows 2000 Setup" window opens. Choose Upgrade and click "Next."

    • 4). Read the license agreement, select "I Accept this Agreement" and click "Next."

    • 5). Enter your Windows 2000 product key, found in the disk packaging, and click "Next."

    • 6). The installation procedure will give you the option to check the Windows Compatibility website to ensure that your computer's hardware is compatible with Windows 2000.

    • 7). Choose your file system. Select yes to upgrade to "NTFS" and click "Next." Read the report and, if there are no problems, click "Next." The "Ready to Install Windows 2000" screen opens.

    • 8). Click "Next" and the upgrade begins. Follow the instructions to complete the upgrade.
