Enhancing the Performance of Projection Television Lamps

Without lamps, the projection television will be lifeless. And if the quality of lamps is poor, it will badly impact the output. The images and videos will not be as clear or bright as they should be. While all lamps and bulbs come with a fixed lifespan, many times they stop working much before you expect them to.

So, how should you ensure your projection television lamp lasts longer and performs as expected?

Here are just a few very simple and useful tips to help you extend the light and life of your projector lamps and postpone the need of TV lamp replacement:
  • Avoid turning the projector on and off too frequently. Wait for at least five minutes, once the projector is on. Let it cool the unit
  • Don't unplug the power to your projector
  • Keep the air exhaust and intake vents of the projector clean to ensure air flow is not obstructed. It's recommended that you clean the air intake/exhaust filters every 3-6 months
  • Make sure the exhaust vent is kept at least two feet from any other object around. There should be no papers hanging above or around the projector
  • The projector shouldn't be mounted near the ceiling or walls, as this may obstruct free flow of air thereby causing faster heating of the projectors and in turn the television lamps inside
  • Shortly after purchasing the projector, make sure to run it for at least 20 hours or two weeks. In case the lamp is faulty/ defective, it will fail in the first ten hours of operation. Since some projection TV lamps' distributors extend a 90 days' absolutely no questions asked warranty from the date of invoice, it's better to check the lamp for performance before warranty period ends
  • Make sure you don't move or shake the projector, especially if it's hot and on
  • Use only remote control to turn the projector on/off. Doing so, you will allow the projector adequate time to get started and shut down properly

While taking good care of your projector is the key to extending the life and performance of the lamp and bulb inside, the need of TV lamp replacement will arise one day or another. When searching for replacement bulbs/ lamps for your projection television, one can count on the online projection television lamps' distributors. However, it's important to ensure, the distributor you choose sources all LCD & DLP lamps and bulbs from reliable and reputable manufacturers only.
