Every time I come across this particular phrase in the Bible, my Spirit rejoices.
It makes the Holy Spirit happy to help us be rooted in Christ! In this world where most people will root for anything else but Christ, we are called to be different.
It is difficult to be rooted if you are always wandering.
Changing your mind very often can make you unstable if you are rooting for something very important.
This actually means that we cannot root for too many other things.
If you want to develop roots, you have to stay long enough for the roots to grow.
To be rooted means being firm in the cause of Christ - not allowing any destructive thoughts to enter your mind.
Often this takes practice.
When destructive thoughts enter your mind, you have to choose not to allow them to linger.
If these thoughts disrupt your peace, it is a very clear sign that they are not from the Lord.
Because the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere (James 3:17).
So when you pass your thoughts through this test, most of them are likely to fail.
So when negative thoughts come, you must replace them with faith-filled thoughts.
This could either be a direct verse from the Bible or your understanding of the Word of God (in your own words).
Just make sure it does not deviate from the essence of God's Word.
This way, you will have a suitable answer to all the negative thoughts that keep barging you all through the day and night.
This alone is an effective strategy to stay firm and rooted.
Then there are situations when you are doing so well spiritually - not allowing fear or worry to defeat you - and yet you fall when the devil attacks.
The attack was probably too sudden, or probably you were ill prepared to face the attack but the truth is, you messed up royally and guilt is building up with all its force.
This is the time to take a deep breath and understand that being guilty doesn't solve the problem.
The best strategy is to repent and get back to being a child of God.
Amen.
Always remember, no sin can hinder us from accessing Christ.
The blood of God is very powerful to wash away even the thickest stains possible.
You are always clean and pure because Jesus died for you.
This is the normal Christian life.
Jesus wants to bless us beyond measure.
He came so that we could have overflowing joy and a fulfilled life.
He wants to bless ALL our days and ALL our years.
This can only happen if we are rooted in Christ.
Yes, troubles will come and our character will fall apart.
But to be rooted just means to shake it off and be back with a bang.
So don't worry over little misgivings.
The Lord Jesus Christ will give you grace sufficient to walk a little closer with Him each day.
All is not lost but a lot is yet to come.
Small mistakes lead to great victories if borne with a valiant heart.
Just don't give up.
Be rooted.
Don't let the little foxes to spoil the party.
Let the party go on.
May you always be glad that you are rooted in Christ.
May His knowledge always shine on you.
May His loving glances shape your heart.
May the purity of His intentions shape your destiny.
God bless you much.
