- 1). Take a compass and set it so that it will draw a circle with a 12-inch diameter. The points on your compass will be six inches apart from each other. Slide a pencil into one end of the compass so that you can draw the circle.
- 2). Take a sheet of 12 X 12 vinyl fabric and spread it out on a work table. Take a ruler and put it so that each end of the ruler is in the top left corner of the fabric and the bottom right corner of the fabric. Draw a line down the length of the ruler. Put the ruler in the opposite corner so that it goes from top right down to bottom left. Draw a second line down the ruler. This will make an "X" on the fabric.
- 3). Use the compass to create a circle on the vinyl fabric. Stick the point of the compass in the middle of the "X" shape you made on the fabric set at the same space apart it was in step 1. Draw the circle.
- 4). Use a pair of scissors to cut the circle out of the fabric. This piece will be the head of the PVC drum. Use a hole punch to make holes around the outside edge of the drum head every two to three inches. Repeat the above steps to create a second drum head.
- 5). Put one of the drum heads on the work table and put a PVC pipe in the middle of the head. Place the second drum head piece on top of the PVC pipe.
- 6). Weave a piece of twine through the holes in the drum head pieces to secure them to the PVC pipe. Start at the hole of the top piece to the hole of the bottom piece, then back up to the top and back down to the bottom. Pull the piece of twine tight until the drum heads are snug against the pipe. Knot the ends of the twine and use scissors to remove the excess twine.
