Candy canes make for a good stocking theme.
Gather your materials and decide what type of stockings you wish to create. Get family members to help. Decide which stocking each member will make. Snowmen stockings are fun, and spray snow (simulated snow in a can) helps give the right festive atmosphere. Or choose a different theme for each stocking. - 2
Christmas trees and presents also are good themes.
Make sure you have a flat surface on which to work. This will help with the tracing, cutting and gluing you will need to do. - 3
You can make Christmas stockings with a little artistry.
Use a sock and trace the shape onto the felt. Glue the edges of the felt onto itself to create the same shape as the stocking. Now you are ready for decorating. - 4). Bake cookies, warm the cocoa and start the stocking-making party. Make sure everyone has enough space to work. Add Christmas carols to the occasion. Everyone can sing along while making unique stocking from the materials.
- 5). Work with each member of the family to develop their personal stocking, but let each—especially the children—be creative and design their own. If children can’t think of themes, draw on their interests, such as sports, music, cars, games and so on. This is a good way to get children interested in their projects.
- 6). Fill each stocking with personal favorites. If Susie likes malted milk balls, give her a variety. If Johnny likes Matchbox cars, find out his specific likes and dislikes.
