- 1). Clean the surface of the copper with a clean rag. Dampen the rag with warm water and wipe down the area. Remove any grease, dirt and other debris on the copper.
- 2). Attach a disc of 60-grit sandpaper to an orbital sander and rough up the back of the copper with the disc sander. Move back and forth in a circular motion over the copper from one side to the other until there are deep scratch marks covering the entire piece of copper.
- 3). Pour lacquer thinner onto a clean rag and clean the surface thoroughly. Remove any debris or particles left over from the sander and dry the entire area with a clean rag.
- 4). Lay the wood on a flat surface and squirt out three, equally spaced beads of liquid epoxy down the entire piece of wood. Repeat the process for the piece of copper. Set copper on top of the wood with the glue side facing down and run your hands over the surface to bind them.
- 5). Line up the copper so it is directly above the piece of wood and tighten it down with a C-clamp. Turn the clamp so it is tight and holding the two together. Wipe off any excess epoxy that squired out from between the two sheets with a clean rag.
- 6). Allow the glue to dry thoroughly (per the manufacturer's instructions) before use.
