- The 8505A features voltage measurements from 10 micro-volts to 1000 volts direct current, and 10 milli-volts to 750 volts alternating current. Resistance measurements can be made from 10 milli-ohms to 20 mega-ohms, and electrical current measurements can be made from 10 nano-amps to 2 amps direct current, or 10 micro-amps to 2 amps alternating current.
- In addition, the 8050A can handle conductance measurements up to 100,000 mega-ohms, and voltage measurements can be made in decibels with user selectable impedance outputs. The resistance measurement feature of this multimeter also supplies enough voltage to activate some transistors and diodes, allowing easy testing of many semiconductor components. The 8050A can also store input voltages, automatically indicate input voltage polarity, and holds its input calibration for up to a year.
- The Fluke 8050A requires an operating temperature of 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Its storage temperature is specified as -40 degrees to 158 degrees Fahrenheit, without batteries, and -40 degrees to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, with batteries. Its operating relative humidity maxes out at 70 percent for most operations, and its temperature coefficient is small, which adds to the unit's measurement accuracy.
- The device is lightweight, at 2 pounds, 6 ounces and features a plastic outer shell and integrated stand. Its operating voltage is variable and set at the factory, but typically supplied as 90 to 110 volts at 60 Hertz. The unit is also small, with a width of only 8.5 inches, depth of 10 inches and height of 2.5 inches.
