- 1). Remove all of the bedding and wash it in hot water to kill any bugs in the bedding.
- 2). Examine every piece of the bed carefully for signs of living bugs. While fully grown bed bugs will be visible to the naked eye, they are very thin and can get into small crevices. Be sure to check under any lips in the mattress, and in any crevices in the bed frame.
- 3). Replace the mattresses if financially possible or seal the mattresses inside mattress bags if you cannot afford a brand new mattress.
- 4). Scrub the frame of your bed with a wire brush. This is important for removing the eggs, which often cannot be seen without careful inspection. The eggs will stick to the frame beyond vacuuming, so you must loosen the microscopic eggs with the wire brush.
- 5). Vacuum the entire frame, as well as all surrounding areas, to suck up any adults as well as the microscopic eggs you scrubbed free with the wire brush.
- 6). Call a professional exterminator if your problem persists. Professionals will spray the afflicted areas with a pesticide designed to specifically kill bed bugs and their eggs.
