When we look at something that we can't figure out the usual thing is to speculate on how it might work.
Then it might be dismantled or tested in various ways to get an idea of its function.
But when something is beyond reach, such as the sky, and things are floating around in it and disappearing then that is a different matter.
Observers made notes, maps and other things but came to completely the wrong conclusions in most cases.
The sun was considered a god of such of such immense power that it created everything.
Its presence was sought and worship began to please it.
With the disappearance of the sun behind clouds the air cools, as it does overnight.
In winter the extreme cold brought different speculations and spring is the time of renewal so that became extremely sacred.
In this way speculation about the solar system slowly built up the religious myths on which all modern faiths, without exception, are still based.
The overriding influence of what was laid down in those early times can not be easily done away with because people are attuned to their ancestors.
If the fathers laid down laws by which to live it is almost impossible to them without defying their wisdom.
That has been the case ever since.
In modern faiths the attachment to old myths and misguided thinking remains.
When books were created to record those myths and laws then they were called the 'word'.
They became the cement to ensure that no brick could be misaligned and so walls were built to contain people within the imaginations of the long dead.
Religions like the Roman Catholic Church cling to their myths through icons, books, brainwashing, and fear generation.
They outlaw anyone with a mind of their own to think outside the common.
They exile those who fail to comply and many will kill for fear of being sent to hell for eternity.
So one should ask why this remains the case?
