- Apple released the iPad tablet computer in April 2010. According to Apple, the company sold three million in the first 80 days. The device comes in two models: the Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi + 3G. Both models can play visual, audio and web content including music, books, movies and games.
- The iPad weighs 1.5 or 1.6 lbs., depending on the model. It has a height of 9.56 inches, a width of 7.47 inches and a height of 1/2 inch. The 9.7-inch LED back-lit screen has a resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels. It also features a fingerprint- and scratch-resistant coating.
- The iPad runs using a specialized 1 GHz Apple A4 processor. Depending on your needs, you can choose between 16, 32 or 64GB of flash memory, providing additional space for multimedia.
- The iPad uses rechargeable lithium-polymer battery; you can charge it using either the power adapted or the USB cable. The battery lasts for up to 10 hours of web browsing and music listening. External buttons include an power switch, which doubles as a sleep/wake button, a screen-rotation lock, a home button and a volume control. The iPad also has a built-in microphone, speakers and a 3.5-mm stereo headphone jack. The Wi-Fi + 3G model has a SIM card slot.
- The Wi-Fi model includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, while the Wi-Fi + 3G has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G cellular (both UMTS/HSPDA and GSM/EDGE) capabilities. 3G cellular lets you access the Internet even while you're not in a wireless hotspot.
- The iPad supports several multimedia formats, including H.264 video, MPEG-4 video and Motion JPEG. It also has connections for an AV cable and a VGA adapter.
