How to Update the K8V-MX BIOS

    • 1). Open an Internet browser window and navigate to the Asus Support page (see Resources).

    • 2). Move the cursor to the upper-left corner of the page and type "K8V-MX" in the "Input Model to Search" box. Click the "down" arrow next to "Select Category" and choose "BIOS". Click the "Search Info" button to search for BIOS updates.

    • 3). Click on the "K8V-MX" link in the center of the webpage, opening a pop-up box to choose the computer's operating system.

    • 4). Click the down arrow next to "Select OS" and choose the operating system. Click the "Search" button. For example, choose "WinXP 64bit". Wait for the webpage to show BIOS updates.

    • 5). Click the "plus" (+) sign to expand the BIOS updates category if necessary.

    • 6). Decide which BIOS update is appropriate for the motherboard. For example, Asus issued a BIOS update in December 2006, labeled and described as "K8V-MX Beta BIOS 0501" and "Latest beta BIOS", respectively.

    • 7). Click on the "Global (DLM) link for the BIOS update of interest. Type in the letters and numbers from the security image in the blank text box, then click the "Submit" button. Follow the instructions to complete the download and installation of the BIOS update to the K8V-MX motherboard.
