Portable Hot Tubs

A portable hot tub, as the name implies, can be moved from one location to another. There is considerable choice in today's market of portable hot tub models. From a variety of inflatable models to the larger stand-alone tubs, they all fit into the category of "portable" if indeed they can be moved. Some models, such as the inflatable models, can be assembled, prepared for use, enjoyed by a company of friends, and then taken down with relative ease by only a couple of people. The larger models with more accessories and features can be put in place and then moved to another location, but not without considerable effort. In order to move the larger models any distance more than a couple of feet, a crane will be required.

When installing a portable hot tub, it is important to consider the need for access by a spa technician for maintenance and regular check-ups. Maintenance checks are a necessity in keeping your spa in good running condition for maximum enjoyment. An access space of at least 18" to 2 feet must be allowed all around the hot tub for maintenance or upgrades to newer accessories such as jets. In situations where there is no access space, it then becomes necessary to drain the tub, remove steps and other items nearby and move the tub in order for the technician to get at the areas requiring attention. If you have a large tub, a crane will be required to move it even a few feet. Then of course, when the maintenance is complete, the tub will need to be moved back into place, refilled and reheated, all at great inconvenience to the owner. It is much easier to think of the need for access when initially designing the space where the hot tub will sit.

Portable hot tubs should be placed on a perfectly flat, sturdy surface such as a concrete patio. If considering putting a tub on a deck, the deck must be strong enough to hold the tub when it is full of water. Many hot tubs are now being constructed with a built-in, perfectly flat and durable foundation that makes it possible to install them anywhere, even on the ground. These products are impervious to any outside influences that could harm your tub such as moisture, pests, or the ravages of time.
