Techniques To Be Optimistic All The Time

In the early years of my working life, I used to complain and blame a lot of people, circumstances and things regarding my work.
I used to transfer from job to job whenever I feel that I don't want what I am doing.
When problems arise, I immediately quit.
I avoided conflicts.
I know what I am doing was wrong.
But I did it anyway.
There was a time when I stayed in a company for only three weeks then left! There was even a time I only stayed for two weeks! (I don't recommend doing this!) In short, I was focused on the negative instead on the positive side of things.
And I know there are a lot like me before who are always looking at the bad or the gloomy side.
NEGATIVITY SUCKS OUR ENERGY There are many negative, pessimistic and positive energy-sucking people out here in the planet.
I hope you are not one of them.
Well, if you are one or if you know someone who is always hating, blaming and complaining and you want to help yourself or others, I have some techniques to share that might actually help.
How do I know? Well, I think I am one of the more optimistic people you will meet now.
And it's a "skill" that I developed through the years.
I get to practice and "master" this skill everyday I use it.
POSITIVE THINKING WORKS Ever since I watched the movie "The Secret" in 2010, I have been practicing the principles taught there and most of the time, they work for me! Having an optimistic attitude towards life gives me more "cushion" when problems arise.
When I have a more positive outlook, things seem to become "lighter", even my problems.
As one of my favorite quotes say:
"Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.
" - Zig Ziglar
And I definitely agree.
When you are optimistic, you tend to see every opportunity, even in difficulties.
DEVELOP AN OPTIMISTIC ATTITUDE The question now is: how do we develop an optimistic attitude? Personally, I would recommend these simple and practical techniques that I also use: 1.
Know your strengths and weaknesses so you can control your emotions.
Last week, I wrote on how to eliminate negative thoughts from our mind.
It is somehow related to this technique.
As human beings with different sets of characteristics, we must learn to capitalize and focus on our strengths and accept and work on our weaknesses.
Even if something bad or something we don't want happens, we can always control our attitude towards the situation.
Always ask yourself, "If I do what I do, will it bring good or harm?" Then you decide.
2.
Get along with successful people all the time.
I really appreciate this one because this is one of the reasons I became more positive.
When I am in the company of successful and positive people, I somehow get infected by their positivity.
It's that contagious! How can you do it? Seek out someone who can mentor you.
He/she must be someone you look up to; someone who is doing a very good job in living a positive life.
Or in some instances; read good books that inspire and motivate you.
Or attend very uplifting seminars about life and success.
These are also good ways to develop positive thinking.
The choices are endless.
You just have to choose the right ones.
3.
Watch motivational videos and TV shows.
In this time of mass and social media, it is very crucial to choose the information that we feed our mind.
Just like a sponge, we can absorb every information that is being sent to us.
So we must choose where we get these information! In watching TV shows for example, instead of watching shows that promote sex, drugs and violence; can you watch sports or lifestyle shows that promote quality, improvement and substance? The same is true for social media.
Instead of reading gossip websites, can you subscribe to blogs that enrich and empower your mind for success? 4.
Believe that there is a reason for every thing that happens.
I strongly believe in this one too.
When you start to think that everything happens for a reason, you believe everything that happens to you - may it be something bad - turns out good in the end.
Imagine this scenario: You are driving to your office.
You have a presentation schedule and you are already running late.
And then you encounter traffic.
Very ironic, right? Probably, your initial reaction would be to get angry and curse the damn traffic! But later when you pass by, you realize that the cause of the traffic was a vehicular accident due to overspeeding.
That if you went fast, you might be involved in the accident! Sometimes, blessings come in disguises.
What may seem bad now may be actually blessings in the future.
We just don't see it yet.
That's where belief and trust come in.
We have to believe and trust that everything will work out fine in the end.
Bottomline is we can do more when we are optimistic! Think positive thoughts all the time.
And see how dramatically your life will change.
May God continue to bless you more!
