A Look at the LG KP500 Cookie Gold

The attractive KP500 Cookie Gold is a lightweight and well designed mobile handset from LG.
Measuring 106.
5 x 55.
4 x 11.
9mm and weighing in at an incredibly light 89 grammes, LG seem to have focused much of their attention to the design of this handset.
It is slim, undoubtedly sleek and available in a choice of four different colours.
The device boasts a 3" resistive touch screen capable of displaying 256k colours.
Although not as responsive as the many capacitive screens available, it is one of the better examples of its kind.
The phone also comes complete with a stylus which makes navigating the screen easier.
This stylus also comes in handy for using the phones handwriting recognition feature.
The screen dominates the front view of the phone, with just three static buttons located beneath it.
The resolution is 240 x 400, and a accelerometer chip facilitates an auto rotate function, which is useful for revealing the qwerty keyboard on screen or for game playing.
On the multi media side of things, the LG KP500 Cookie Gold is well equipped.
The built in media player supports a host of audio file formats including WMA, MP3 and AAC, and the USB connectivity allows the easy transfer of files from the handset to the users pc or laptop.
The phone incorporates a very simple camera function, which although lacking an autofocus gives pleasing results in natural light.
The resolution of the camera is 3.
15MP and the phone is also capable of shooting video at a rate of twelve frames per second.
The built in RDS Radio tuner is a welcome addition, allowing the user to listen to local or national radio services.
The Cookie comes complete for four games pre installed, but others are easily downloadable, and the fact that the handset supports Java means gaming is a fun experience.
However with 48mb built in memory, I would recommend that users take advantage of the built in microSD card slot, allowing memory expansion up to 16gb.
Several call features make the KP500 not only a stylish phone, but also a very functional one.
A speaker phone make hands free calls easy.
An automatic log is made of all received calls, whether they were answered or not, and these can be easily viewed via the screen.
Likewise the built in phonebook is very clear and easy to use.
Three and half hours talk time can be achieved from the 900mAh lithium ion battery, or 350 hours when the handset is in standby.
All in all the LG KP500 Cookie Gold is a neat phone.
First and foremost, perhaps ahead of specification, the design will win it many admirers.
It is incredibly slim (20% lighter than the iPhone) but still houses a vivid 3" screen.
Perhaps the nearest phone to this on the market is the Samsung Tocco Lite.
The KP500 looks set to be another incredibly popular phone for LG.
