- 1). Remove the USB cable from the Palm Centro and from the USB port on your computer. Clean the connector at the end of your Palm Centro using a can of compressed air. Tun on the Palm Centro and clear any alarms that might be waiting, this includes: "To Do" reminders, SMS or MMS messages as well as voice mail alarms. Reconnect the cables and try to hotsync the device again.
- 2). Charge the Palm Centro and perform a "soft reset." Turn off the wireless capability on the Palm Centro by holding the red Power/End Key. Remove the battery and let the device rest for a minute. Replace the battery and battery cover. Turn on the device. Reset the Date and time on the Palm Centro.
- 3). Turn on the Palm Desktop Hotsync Manager. The program needs to be actively running to hotsync the Palm Centro. Go to Start, Programs and click on Palm or Handspring depending on the age of your device. Launch the Hotsync Manager from the list of applications.
- 4). Install the newest version of Hotsync Manager for the version of Windows that you use. Palm Desktop hotsync Manager was written for 32-bit editions of Windows. While some have successfully used the software with 64-bit editions of Windows it is recommended that you hotsync the device using Bluetooth technology.
- 5). Download the Outlook 2007 update if you are hotsyncing your Palm Centro through Microsoft Outlook 2007. The update adds a path or conduit that is compatible with Outlook 2007 which will allow you to sync your Palm Centro device.
