- 1). Assess the overall direction, goals and mission of the after-school program. For example, assess if the students in the program are working to improve their grades, observe the volunteers to determine their qualifications, look for helpful resources such as books, and a safe learning environment.
- 2). Interview the after-school program students. Ask them what they like best about the program, their dislikes, what they would like t achieve from the program, and how they feel about the staff and themselves. You can also provide them with a questionnaire if there are lots of students in the program to expedite the process.
- 3). Obtain parental feedback with interviews or a questionnaire. You can ask them how they feel about the program, if there are any improvements in their child's behavior or grades, how cooperative is the staff and more.
- 4). Invite staff and teachers to complete a survey or short interview about changes in behavior and grades of the students, what they like and dislike about the program and other questions about the everyday activities and observations about the program.
- 5). Review the questionnaires, surveys and evaluations about the after-school program. Identify the areas where most people agree can be improved and areas where the program excels. Summarize and share the gathered information with program staff, teachers and parents so they have an idea which areas to focus on for the improvement and success of the program.
