- 1). Scrape old paint, caulk or other material from the window frame and trim with a scraper.
- 2). Run a bead of caulk on the backside of the storm window around the edges and top. The caulk will prevent any gaps that will leak air.
- 3). Place the storm window over the existing house window. Use a power drill or a screwdriver to secure the top of the storm window to the window frame.
- 4). Close the bottom sash and then use the power drill to secure the sides of the window to the existing window frame.
- 5). Drill a weep hole in the lower corner of each side of the storm window with the power drill. The weep holes should be located just above the window sill.
