Every year is the same, we've all had a lovely Christmas, an amazing new year (from what you can remember!) but then January comes ..
...
and depression sets in.
Everyone's back at work, settling into that same old routine and unable to look out of the window because doom and gloom fills the air.
The decorations are down, the chocolates all gone, the turkey's been demolished and the word 'diet' springs to mind! So..
..
How do we resolve this terrible depressive state we're stuck in? oDiet - You could try going on a diet, a healthy body makes for a healthy mind etc etc.
But...
you're not really in the right frame of mind for a diet, not so soon after christmas anyway.
oSpring Clean - Maybe if you clean the house from top to bottom you'll cheer yourself up slightly.
But...
you're too down in the dumps to clean and even if you did, the kids would just traipse in covered in mud.
oFamily Outings - Keep the whole family entertained and go out for the day to a zoo or maybe a theme park.
But...
you can't do that, its cold, windy, raining and nowhere would be open.
oHave a night out - Get the girls together and enjoy a well overdue night out.
But...
be aware that as soon as those gorgeous new satin stilettos touch down into those murky looking puddles, they're wrecked forever! oGo on a shopping spree - Treat yourself to a new outfit, you can never have enough outfits.
But...
You can't really justify spending money you haven't got on a new frock, plus there's still things hanging in the wardrobe that have never seen the light of day! oTantalise your taste buds - Take the hubby out for a slap up meal, just the two of you.
But...
Who's going to watch the kids? You'll have to hire a baby sitter which is bumping up the price of this meal, or you could phone a friend, but there's another favour you owe.
oGet yourself a furry friend - Go to the pet shop and get a new pet, you'll be able to play with it for hours on end.
But...
You can't take it back after a couple of weeks and you know for a fact you'll definitely be bored with it by then.
A pet is for life, not for January blues.
oRent a DVD - Rent yourself a good old romantic comedy, of course you'll definitely need chocolate and popcorn to go with it.
But...
That won't make you feel good for very long, and isn't that kind of defeating the object of the whole 'diet' plan.
oGo on a weekend break - Take the family away on a nice weekend trip, visit a nice family resort or try a caravan park.
But...
If you're going away for the weekend you're still going to get the same miserable weather.
That's it, there's your answer! Book yourself one of those last minute bargain holidays you've been told about a million times.
They do exist but just take some hard work and commitment from you to find the right one.
January is the best time to find bargain holidays, it's out of season, the sales are on and tour operators are trying to shift the packages they have left.
Phone through to call centres, search the internet and get yourself booked up.
Ok, so it's not going to be as hot and as busy as it would be travelling in the summer months, but put things in perspective, you're getting a great deal and it's got to be better than staying here.
But...
No no there are no buts here, get yourself logged on, booked up and enjoy your last minute bargain holiday!
