- 1). Roll out the thread to the required length. The length will differ depending on the project and the design. A simple beaded bracelet will need only a little more than the circumference of the wrist, while a threaded necklace might require five times the length of the necklace to form woven threads. Cut the thread at the required length.
- 2). Hold the clasp up and look at it. A clasp has two parts that connect at the middle, and each half goes on one end of the thread. Most clasps will have a small hole at each end to slide the thread through.
- 3). Slip the thread through the hole. Tie off the thread by tying a basic knot. The number of knots used and the specific type of knot is based on personal preference. Pull the knot as tightly as possible to ensure the clasp will not come off.
