- 1). Pause or cancel the current dishwasher cycle if it is active. Press the appropriate button or open the door. You don't want the dishwasher's operation interfering with other troubleshooting steps.
- 2). Look inside the garbage disposal unit in the kitchen sink. You do not have to reach inside the drain. Turn on the power switch if there is food that needs to be disposed of. Run the faucet for about a minute to help the food work its way down through the drainage system. The Frigidaire dishwasher's drainage hose is commonly connected through the garbage disposal system in the sink. Poor disposal drainage might cause water to remain at the bottom of the dishwasher.
- 3). Look under the sink, by opening the cabinet door if necessary. Find the drainage hose leading from the dishwasher to the disposer. For example, if the dishwasher is on the left side of the sink, then the drainage hose is probably running from left to right under the sink to the disposer. Make sure that the hose is not kinked or bent. If it is transparent, check for clogs. The Frigidaire dishwasher can more easily drain water from the tub if the flow through the hose is unimpeded.
- 4). Resume the cycle if the lighted indicators on the control panel indicate that the dishwasher is still active. Cycle times vary greatly for some Frigidaire models. For example, the "Energy Saver" cycle can last for 120 minutes, with one rinse cycle. The "Heavy Wash" cycle can last 150 minutes with two rinse cycles. If you open the door before the cycle is complete, you will have a pool of water at the bottom of the machine.
- 5). Press firmly on the door to make sure it is securely latched. The drain pump is designed to operate only when the Frigidaire's door is completely closed.
