On the 11/11/11 the new 7 wonders of nature were revealed and this year as brought some fabulous destinations to the world's attention. This year we have a range of destinations from mountains to islands to rainforests and waterfalls. The 7 destinations have been shortlisted from 28 finalists which contained destinations such as Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the Grand Canyon in USA and the islands of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
The 7 new wonders of nature are as follows;
The Amazon - South America
Halong Bay - Vietnam
Iguazu Falls - South America
Jeju Island - Korea
Komodo - Indonesia
Puerto Princesa Underground River - The Philippines
Table Mountain - South Africa
Although the results above are only provisional, there is every confidence that they will still be the remaining 7 when publishing comes round in early 2012. The new 7 wonders really do encapsulate some of the uncovered treasures of this world whilst leaving out some of the more obvious ones. It gives travellers more options when it comes to seeing the world, which destinations they include on their trips. All of the above are fantastic locations and symbolize what is so great about this planet, diversity. None of the two natural wonders are the same, or in fact similar which shows you how much the world has to offer.
Upon the official publication of these results we would expect to see an increase in tourism to these new found wonders creating more jobs and more revenue for the destination which in this time of world economic crisis is a positive step forward. Travel can certainly help the world get out of recession and publishing information about new and sort after destinations such as the ones listed above is a step in the right direction.
It's a refreshing site to see year upon year new and exciting destinations being thrust to the forefront of our attention as we could be accused of repeat tourism, or traveling to the same destinations over and over as we are unaware of any new and exciting destinations we would want to visit. Publications like this keep the world a fresh and exciting place, undiscovered in some places and truly unique in others.
We will be awaiting the complete publication of this document with the destinations listed but we don't foresee any changes in the destinations as selected on the 11/11/11. Stay tuned for an update in the New Year when the final publication is documented.
