This grandmother is the head of generations of Khalsa princesses.
Three generations, grandmother, mother and granddaughter stand together in the gurdwara langer hall. The Sikh grandmother plays an important role in keeping Sikhs traditions alive in an ever changing world, by making sure her family mingles with sangat, the holy congregation. The paternal grandmother is known as dadee in the Punjabi language common to Sikhs.
