Award ribbons are used as prizes for many activities, from high school sports to showing pedigree animals. If you've won awards in your field, you might want to show them off to visitors rather than keep them in a box. Award ribbons are versatile. There are several ways you can use them to decorate your home while displaying your achievements. - Shadow boxes are three-sided boxes you can display in your home. Arrange your award ribbons inside the box in any way you choose before mounting the box on a wall or placing it on a piece of furniture. The customizable nature of shadow boxes means you can add photos and certificates to the box, too. If you have many award ribbons, create a shadow box for each year.
- For an easy display solution, use a corkboard or netting to hang your award ribbons. You can pin them into the cork board using tacks or hang a piece of netting or lattice over the wall and attach the ribbons to that. Corkboards are suitable for small numbers of ribbons. If you have many, wall netting might be more suitable as it covers as much of your wall as you want.
- If you don't have much space to display your ribbons, use a cookie jar or transparent storage container. Simply put the award ribbons into the container and then display it with your other household decorations. If you have a hollow, transparent lamp base, fill that with ribbons for a personalized light.
- If you have many award ribbons, you can transform them into a household item that you'll be able to use while displaying your achievements. Cutting up your award ribbons to make the quilts might be difficult to do, given the time and effort put into winning them. If that's not a problem, you don't need to have advanced sewing skills. Find a simple quilt pattern online or at your local haberdashery.
- With their bright colors, award ribbons large and small can make eye-catching Christmas tree decorations. Hang smaller ribbons lower down the tree and saving the largest as a replacement for the star or angel on top. Using your award ribbons like this, you can enjoy them year after year.
