How to Build Floral Wall Sconces

    • 1). Cut two 1-by-4-inch pieces out of half-inch plywood with a circular saw.

    • 2). Cut a hole with a jigsaw that is smaller than the widest part of your floral cone into the center of one of the pieces of wood.

    • 3). Stand the two pieces of wood on their ends. Place two of their 4-inch sides together so that they form an L shape. Screw the pieces together where they meet with screws and a screwdriver.

    • 4). Paint the sconce and floral cone with spray paint. Let dry.

    • 5). Attach the wood piece without the hole to the wall with screws so that the wood piece with the hole is above the piece of wood without the hole.

    • 6). Cut off the wire stake at the tip of the floral cone with a pair of wire cutters. Cut a piece of plastic foam to fit into the floral cone with a sharp knife if you want to use faux flowers. Use floral foam or set a baby food jar filled with water into the cone if you wish to have real flowers in the sconce.

    • 7). Choose plants for your sconce. Use faux flowers or fresh cut flowers to beautify your sconce. Choose ivies, rosemary and sprawling plants for a natural look. Add ferns, sages, irises and other upright plants to bring height to the scone. Choose colorful plants such as daisies, roses, poppies and pansies to make your sconce stand out.

    • 8). Set the floral cone with the pointed end facing down into the hole in the sconce. Stick the stems of faux plants in the plastic foam. Cut the stems of real flowers at an angle with scissors, and then place the stems into the floral foam or jar of water. Arrange the flowers until you are satisfied with the results.
