- 1). Add thick white accents to the room by using wide, white trim along the baseboards, ceiling, doorway and fireplace, if the room has one. Choose dark wood, such as mahogany, for the table, chairs and any other wooden furniture. Add small color points through flowers in a vase or wall art.
- 2). Decorate the room with black or dark wood trim around the walls and doorway. Add some sparkle with silver or chrome trims in the lighting fixture and wall art. Use warm, rich wood colors for the dining room chairs and table. Red and white highlights work well in the room through candles, lamps and centerpieces.
- 3). Use brass, gold and grey highlights around a room to create the academic feeling brought on when you see a navy blazer. Complement the decor with white trim and a dark table. Use candle holders, light fixtures, wall art, centerpieces and linens to complete the look. Dark wood furniture goes well with this color theme.
- 4). Upholster the dining room chairs with dark navy to match the walls. Use a dark wood table and fill the remaining decor with items that are either white or chrome. White trim and white lace curtains complete the look. Decorate the room with green centerpieces and a few green plants to add a bit more color.
