One of the best hotels in Barra da Tijuca, the Bourbon Residence Barra Premium sits among the buildings of Condomínio Mundo Novo, a high-end residential development with round-the-clock security. The hotel is quite distant from many of Rio's main tourist attractions (the Corcovado is about one hour away). However, its amenities and location by the Marapendi Lagoon and Ecological Park in Barra, almost a city in itself with a great beach, fine restaurants and nightlife, make it a top choice for business and tourism.
Buses to Copacabana and other hot spots are easily available.

Buses to Rio's main areas run on nearby Avenida das Américas; also ask at the hotel about bus lines running inside Condomínio Mundo Novo to nearby malls Via Parque and Barra Shopping.
Condomínio Mundo Novo
Condomínio Mundo Novo was launched in 1997 with the Barra First Class hotel (which has been the Promenade Barra First Class since 2008). Besides two hotels and two business buildings, the development has six residential buildings with two- to four-bedroom apartments, which are home to about 1,200 families.
Each residential building has 22 floors and its own pool, sauna, garage, event room and home office. Residents share use of a club and fitness center.
Only 45% of the Mundo Novo property is built on; the development has 40% of its area completely preserved and 15% as a ZCVS (Wildlife Conservation Zone). In this area, a soccer field and five sports courts are surrounded by woods with trails. There's also a lookout point.
Location and perks make for hefty real estate values: as of this writing, the asking price for a four-bedroom apartment at Mundo Novo is about $750,000.
