Morro da Babilonia (Babylon Hill) is home to one of Rio de Janeiro's slums which have been freed from the control of drug traffickers by a Police Pacification Unit (UPP).
Here, the hill reveals its most pristine face to climbers from Rio-based Companhia da Escalada. The hill has some of the most popular climbing routes in Rio, due to easy access and the great views of Praia Vermelha and Sugarloaf Mountain.
It's possible to tackle a route in about three hours.
