Getting Rid of Centipedes in Your House

Regardless of whether they can be of any threat or not, centipedes are a sure sign that your house is unsanitary and requires regular cleaning. However, before you do that, you might want to take care of these little insects that work alone and not in groups like any other little creatures that invades and infests the houses in communities. There are many ways on how you can kill centipedes using both natural and conventional methods.

Getting rid of centipedes is quite easy as all you need are a few stuffs that can be found in your house. In fact, you can swat these tiny creatures with almost anything your hands can grab especially when you are caught off guard and surprised with the insects. You will find below some of the following methods commonly used when it comes to eliminating centipedes in your house.
  • Insecticides – there are a huge numbers of these products out in the market. Find one that will suite your needs. Make sure that it is designed for centipedes in order to ensure efficacy and success in exterminating the pest. Powdered insecticides are commonly used on areas of the house where you usually see them crawling around. These will cause various reactions to the body of the insect which will eventually kill them. In most cases, these are on cracks, holes, and areas where they can hide. Most likely these areas offer a damp and cool place for them to rest while they are not hunting for foods.
  • Swat – as soon as you see one, hit them hard with whatever you have on hand. You can always roll up a piece of newspaper which is very effective in killing various types of pests. You can also use a fly swat although it is not meant for centipedes. Make sure that you get rid of the body afterwards to maintain cleanliness. In addition, do not crush its body as this will leave a messy stain on the floor afterwards.
  • Hot Water – you can use hot water to get rid of centipedes. All you need to do is to pour the water carefully and directly on the areas where you always spot these creatures. As soon as the liquid hits them, you can expect them to immediately die on the spot.
  • Exterminators – in case you do not have the guts to do the extermination job, you can always contact professional exterminators. In case you are settled with the idea of hiring an exterminator for the elimination project, you should make sure that you have the right person for the job. Some people take advantage of the fact that you are afraid or do not have an idea on how to get rid of centipedes or any type of insect. In many cases, they tend to fool and trick you that they have eliminated the pests completely when in fact they only provided temporary measures. The same problem will again come back after a few months giving them additional job orders to accomplish.
