There are many things that can set off eczema in general. Once you know what type of eczema you have, you will find that you are able to cross some of the triggers off of the list of triggers that affect you. The problem is before you can cross them off of your list; you have to have them on your list, and to get them on your list you have to know what they are. As you read, you will discover some of these triggers and what makes them dangerous.
Dust mites
The effect of dust mites when controlled can be brought down to almost zero. I mention this because when dust mites are not controlled, they can be the most significant source of aggravation in eczema cases. Find out how you can get rid of them, it is not very difficult.
Food allergies
Many people find that their eczema is caused by something they eat. There are many foods that promote eczema flares. The way to handle this problem is to use a food diary and note what foods you eat. When you do this, you have a written record to use to back track and see if there are any things common in your diet at the times when you become bothered with eczema.
Changes in weather
Many people catch a cold when the weather makes an abrupt change. This is also true of eczema. Many people get a flare up when the weather changes. When this happens, you know that you probably have to go the route of getting rid of an infection in order for the flare to go away.
To do this, you may want to consider the role that vitamin C plays on eczema.
Overheating and sweating
When your body overheats, blisters can begin to form on the surface of your skin. If you scratch them you can trigger off a flare of eczema. What you want to do is to be proactive in this area. If you are going out for play carry a spray bottle that you can use to give yourself misty shots of water to keep cool with.
Dry air
Dry air can also trigger eczema. It does this by pulling moisture out of and away from your skin. The problem with this as you know is dry skin is a major problem for people with eczema. Dry skin itches and is easily broken.
Stress
Many people with eczema have found that flare ups come within a few days of having experienced a frustrating or distressful event. What happens is that stress burns an element that is important for good skin function. If this element is quickly replaced it is likely that a flare up will not ensue. This secret element can be found in bath salts that are good for eczema.
Soaps
Soaps are not good for people with eczema. They contain fragrances and colorings which are poisonous to skin. Even people who do not have eczema should find better hygiene alternatives than using soap.
