- Place about an inch of the bait trap mixture in old tin cans (or plastic jugs or bottles) with two holes in opposite ends. Attach handles and hang the receptacles in trees. Make sure to check on the traps regularly and refill or clean them if necessary.
- Mix 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of cider vinegar, 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 tbsp. of molasses. Another combination mixes 3/4 cup of water, 1 cup of white vinegar, 1 cup sugar and two banana peels cut into thin strips.
- These environmentally friendly mixtures work because the pests are attracted to the sweet mixture. Once in, they cannot escape, and they eventually drown or are killed by the vinegar.
