- 1). Jack the trailer up, place jack stands under the frame and lower the trailer. Remove the tire.
- 2). Slide the brake drum off to gain access to the lug stud that is broken. Trailers with no brakes will have immediate access to the broken stud.
- 3). Drive the broken stud out of the hole with a hammer and punch. The stud has a slight taper and spline to grip and hold. A firm strike with the hammer will remove it.
- 4). Spray lubricant onto the new stud and the stud opening. Slide the stud in from the backside and tighten the lug nut as snugly as possible to initially seat the new stud. Mount the tire and lower the trailer. With the tire firmly against the ground, forcefully tighten the lug nut to pull the stud completely into place. Make sure it is full seated.
