The HP 6735s is a relatively new addition in the home and office range from HP.
On paper the 6735s looks impressive especially for the recommend retail price.
With an impressive design and a decent level of hardware under the hood the 6735s looks to be one of HP's best value laptops currently around.
Let's have a detailed look at it: Performance - Although the 6735s comes in a variety of spec versions you will be getting at least an AMD X2 Dual core CPU running at 2GHZ, 1GB of ram and a 150GB hard drive.
The first thing to note here is that 1GB is not a great deal of memory nowadays and I would strongly advising going for the 2GB model at least depending on what your planned use is for it.
In terms of storage 150GB might also be a little bit low for many, but storage is very cheap nowadays and big removable storage drives are at rock bottom prices.
Even with the basic spec the 6735s performs well with some basic multi tasking and CPU intensive programs.
For those who run lots of applications at once this is where you will notice the 1GB of memory being a little on the low side.
What is good about the 6735s is that the CPU's are all 64bit capable so a 64bit operating system is definitely viable.
With 2GB of memory in the model I tested I was able to run several programs at once (multiple browser windows, Photoshop, windows media player and visual studio), the performance was impressive and there were no major signs of it struggling.
But now it's time to bring up a negative point: once you start putting the CPU under a bit of stress the fan will speed up rapidly and become very noisy indeed.
The noise can be very off putting depending on what you are doing.
It is only when you start closing programs down that the fan will slow down again.
Look and feel - One of the best points of the HP 6735s is its look and feel.
The keyboard is very well designed as is the touch pad.
Everything is where it should be and the smooth plastic casing is easy on the hands.
The various ports that the hp 6735s houses are easily accessible on the sides, none of them are at the back which I find to be a nice little feature.
The screen and display are very good quality and the HP 6735s uses a 15.
4" True bright display which comes with a built in web camera just above it.
The screen is readable even at the lowest brightness settings which is great for when you're on the move and need to preserve battery life.
Summary - The HP 6735s is a good value for money laptop that is really aimed at home and office users.
Whilst it can handle some games it is by no means a high performance gaming laptop and does not have the graphics card capabilities to be one.
With that being said though it can handle multi tasking very well indeed and its only main downside is the very noisy CPU fan which comes on under CPU load.
