How to Burn an AVI to DVD in XP

    • 1). Insert a blank DVD-R into your DVD-R drive and close the drive. This will cause a pop-up command prompt to launch.

    • 2). Click the "Open Writable CD/DVD Using Windows Explorer" option then click "OK". This will cause a new pop-up window to display showing the contents of the DVD (which will be empty).

    • 3). Locate and double-click the "My Computer" icon located on your desktop, then locate the AVI files you wish to burn to the DVD.

    • 4). Left-click the AVI file you wish to burn, and while continuously holding down the left-mouse button, drag the icon into the window pane containing the DVD contents. Repeat this process until you have dragged all desired AVI files to the DVD window pane.

    • 5). Click the "Write These Files To DVD" option located in the upper left-hand corner of the DVD window pane. This will cause the CD/DVD writing wizard to launch as a new pop-up window.

    • 6). Type a name for the disc into the blank name box located in the center of the CD/DVD writing wizard, then click "Next". This will cause your computer to burn the AVI files to the DVD.

    • 7). Wait until you receive a conformation that the burning process is complete before removing the DVD from the disc drive.
