In Mark 10:15: 'Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.
' A child asks if there is a God and how do we prove he exists? My answer is I am looking at his miracle; you are the miracle of his great work with your innocence, your beauty, the sincere concern for others.
As I look at your smile and at other times I see your tears when you have been hurt and yet how quickly you wipe them away when I tell you I love you and everything will be fine; the smile returns.
I see God in the playground where lots of children are playing with total joy that only a child has.
I see God when through your eyes I see the world the way it should be seen, with honesty and kindness and enough love to fill the oceans.
Children are not tainted with the concerns of the world the way adults are consumed and restrained because we have lost the faith that we were born with.
As time develops, we even quench their dreams and induce them to accept mediocrity because of our perception that the world is a big bad wolf that is going to eat us up.
In Matthew 19:13-15 Jesus said: 'Let them be! Do not stop the children from coming to me, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to people such as these children.
' He is talking here about total trust the way a child will put her hand in her father's hand knowing he will not let her go.
So too should we with God.
All except those who have learned that God truly exists and the disappointments we feel are only an example of how life on earth will disappoint.
When we place our trust in God the world is secondary and then clarity appears from the receding fog and there he is: right there in everything.
The reason this happens is that we realize God was here all the time, we just did not see him.
Life got in the way and the barriers appeared insurmountable due to the busyness of our world.
We want so much yet we have made it very costly to live without God and as hunger ravages certain parts of the world, the cost is increasing in outlandish proportions.
How much better off are we with our technological advances when our intellectual responses have not kept pace and we struggle like tired horses pulling excessive loads an uncaring master heaped on us.
The thing of it is we are that master and we have been carrying loads that could have been made lighter if we just took the time to not just make God fit in with our busy schedule, but actually was a complete part of our lives.
We can do this through meditation.
Closing your eyes inhale in a deep breath and simulate a river trip in the middle of summer when all is calm and you are wafting with nature.
While you exhale slowly, you realize the boat is floating easily without a care in the world because you have trust in God and you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Living Water of Jesus assures you the journey will be interesting.
As information comes your way, the decision you have to make when you arrive on the bank miles down river will glide across your mind.
You know your answer will be filled with enthusiasm as you fill out the personal invitation you have received from God.
Useful tip: open your mind and soul to the wonders of life and forget about materialism because there is a lot more to life than what you see!
