How to Fix an All in One Card Reader Writer Freeze Up

    • 1). Disconnect the media card reader from its USB connection. Disconnect it from its power supply if the reader has a separate power supply.

    • 2). Remove any media cards currently inserted in the reader. Gently blow into the slots, as dust and debris can sometimes get inside the reader and hinder the read/write ability.

    • 3). Reconnect the USB connection and turn the reader back on. Insert one media card and wait for the computer to recognize the card.

    • 4). Disconnect the card reader and remove all cards once again if there's still a problem. Restart the computer before reconnecting the card reader.

    • 5). Insert the card reader's driver disc into the computer's CD drive if the reader came with one. Follow the on screen installation instructions to reinstall the drivers for the reader. You may need to disconnect the USB connection and then reconnect it after the reinstall. Restart the computer if prompted.
