Secret Life of the American Teenager

The TV series the 'Secret Life of the American Teenager', looks at the lives of adolescents from several angles. Teenagers have constantly been regarded as being on a distinct degree from grownups. Neither grownups nor children, they have a whole different conduct which elders do not approve too easily. Brenda Hampton's 'Secret Life of the American Teenager', became a significant hit after playing the first episode. The question that needs to be asked is whether TV shows are based on actual life, or is it the other way around? The lead in the serial is played by Shailene Woodly (Amy Jurgens) who has to deal with teenage maternity. The Following season shows Amy suffering to bring up her baby and lead normal relationships, as others around her also confront challenges in their own relationships.

The show 'Secret Life of the American Teenager', received a great deal of criticism, but was a big hit with ratings sky rocketing higher than those of 'Gossip Girl'. A large viewers now follows 'Secret Life of the American Teenager', becoming one of America's favourite Television shows. The serial also won some awards like the Teen Choice Award. Following its winning the Teen Choice Award, the show opera has a theme like the film Juno.

Season 1 is about Amy, an American teenager, and her relationship with Ricky Underwood, which unfolds into a complication with her being pregnant. It goes on to look at how her teenage maternity elaborates matters and disturbs her parents' already unstable marriage. We see Amy becoming closer to her sister and the father of her child in the second season, and how she deals with the changes in her life, the individuals in it and her relationships in life too.

The show, 'Secret Life of the American Teenager', was a created by Brenda Hampton who was turned down for the show by production chiefs in Fox network. Brenda, the creator of '7th Heaven', one of the longest running shows, remained in writing and submitting her playscripts to different network channels when she did not obtain a positive reply. Being a debatable topic, that of teenage pregnancy in America, it was not accepted well by network chiefs. The show looks at pregnancy and the primary problems in relationships in the life of an American adolescent. 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager', passes a clear idea of the lighter side, and the more serious facets of the issue of teenage pregnancy.
