How to Groom a Goldendoodle Not Like a Poodle

    • 1). Brush your goldendoodle every day. Use a slicker brush to remove the tangles that are likely to happen, given his thick, curly hair. The slicker brush also helps remove any dirt or other debris from his coat, as well as evenly distribute natural oils that help his coat remain healthy.

    • 2). Trim your goldendoodle, using electric clippers, when his hair gets too long. Leave the hair on the torso at about 1 inch long and the legs and tails up to 2 inches. Trim the area around his rear end short, so that it does not become dirty when the dog urinates and defecates. Trim the hair around his mouth short as well, so it won't become soiled after eating. Keep the hair above the dogs eyes trimmed, so that it can see clearly. If you don't feel comfortable trimming your goldendoodle yourself, have it done by a professional groomer.

    • 3). Bathe your goldendoodle about once a month, unless it gets into something dirty or become excessively smelly. Use warm water and a mild dog shampoo for the dog's bath. Dry your goldendoodle, using clean towels. Use a hair dryer on a cool setting, unless the dog is afraid of the noise.
