How to Use Blocks of Wood to Determine Angles

    • 1). Use a protractor to draw angles out on a clean piece of scrap plywood. Draw the outlines and the degrees of the angle directly onto the wood with a pencil to create a template of the angles.

    • 2). Lay the blocks onto the template. Arrange them on the template as if they already had angles cut on them.

    • 3). Draw imaginary angles on the blocks using your imagination to project where you think the angles might run across the blocks.

    • 4). Turn on the stationary sander. Hold the blocks, one by one, against the sander. Sand the blocks to the angles that you drew on the blocks. Lay them back down on the template in the order you had them before.

    • 5). Check to see whether the angles are tight. If not, refine the angles with the pencil by redrawing them. Re-sand and check. Sand and check again until the angles are correct.
