If You Want to Have Fun - Check Out Vail Colorado

Vail Colorado...
you will absolutely love this place!
With its breathtaking mountain views, world famous skiing, a variety of accommodations, and numerous shops, restaurants and bars, Vail Colorado is indeed one of the best resort destinations in the world.
This quaint little town offers 350,000 acres of national forest, 5,289 acres of skiable area and nearly 15 miles of trails, steeps, bumps and glades.
Let us not forget the countless events that keep happening all year round to entertain visitors and residents alike.
With all its popularity, not many people know the history of Vail.
Before white men came to this area, Vail was the summer abode and hunting grounds for Ute Indians.
George Gore and Jim Bridger were one of the first explorers in this area and they spent between 1854 and 1856 exploring peaks and hunting in summers.
Bridger returned a few years later and named the valley and the mountain range after Gore.
Gore Range became popular with fortune seekers after news spread that the hills were full of gold and silver.
This led to rail tracks being set up as mines were opening up everywhere.
The fortune hunters forced the Ute Indians out of Gore Range, and this led to the Indians setting fire to thousands of acres of forested land as they left the area.
Today this deforested area is the famous Back Bowls.
Once the minerals were exhausted, the miners felt and until 1939, this area was home to sheep ranches.
It was then that the construction of Highway 6 began which ran through Gore Valley.
The project engineer of this construction was Charlie Vail, which ultimately led to the road, the Vail Pass, being named after him and subsequently the wonderful town of Vail.
During World War II, the Tenth Mountain Division of the US Army used this area for survival training, and after the war, many soldiers returned to this beautiful valley to set up homes.
One such person was Pete Seibert, who dreamed of building a mountain ski community at Vail along with fellow troopers Bill Brown and Bob Parker.
The three joined hands in 1954 with Earl Eaton, a uranium prospector.
Thus, the construction of Vail Ski Resort began in the 1962, and by 1966 even the town of Vail was part of this.
The town became the first place to have a gondola in the US.
It also had two double chairlifts and poma lift for beginners.
This led to opening of restaurants, medical clinics and hotels.
By 1970, Vail Colorado became a popular ski resort and in 1974, when Gerald Ford became the President of the US, the town jumped to the forefront as the president owned a house here.
By 1980s, this quaint town was catering to people all year round.
Activities were not just restricted to skiing.
Golf courses and mountain biking trails were constructed.
In summer, the town was hosting tennis tournaments and concerts of all music genres from classical to rock and roll.
This resulted in the town being named as one of the best holiday spots in the world, and it has been one of the preferred holiday destinations for people from all over the world ever since.
