Lately there has been a lot of talk about link dilution and for good reason it seems.
If some of the theories are correct then it's something that most people who article market, should take seriously and research a little more before they lose some of that impetus.
The basic premise behind link dilution, is that by having too many out bound links on a page dilutes the value of all the links on that page and therefor decreases the value of the links.
Because of this theory, many internet marketers, webmasters and site owners are thinking long and hard about how they format their pages.
Just One Link - A Good Thing? The immediate thing that springs to mind is the question of resource box links and is one more valuable than 2.
It would seem that this is the case, so it may actually be better to only put one link in a article's resource box to gain the most potent benefit out of that particular link.
Also it means often the search engines might not index all links from a link heavy page, although this would mean site maps wouldn't be useful and I don't believe this to be the case.
Reviewing How Paid Links Pay Off For me the most interesting development in the theory of link dilution is the status of paid links as it would seem that a paid front page link would be significantly less valuable if the links on that page increase.
Imagine buying a pr 8 link for $400 a month and being the only link on that page, then all of a sudden there were were 5 more outbound links on that page.
This would seriously devalue the link and probably be more like the value of a pr 2 link, which you wouldn't by for $500 per month right? You'd feel ripped off and fair enough too! Who wants to over pay for something that is high in price and low in value? Yet some people still do and many people are cashing in on it.
Think about why you would want a watered down link, because that's what they are - Watered Down! So it's a personal choice as to how to use this information or if at all you believe that link dilution plays much of a role.
What you do next could be very important though?
