- 1). Purchase a headlamp restoration kit. These kits can be purchased at any automotive store and are produced by a number of manufacturers. The kit should include a polishing compound, sealing compound, two different grit sandpapers and a soft cloth.
- 2). Spray the affected lens with the spray bottle to dampen the surface.
- 3). Apply a small amount of polishing compound (about the size of a dime) to the surface of the heavier grit piece of sandpaper. Scrub the surface of the lens with the polishing compound and sandpaper for about one minute. Wipe away any residual polishing compound with a paper towel.
- 4). Apply a small amount of polishing compound to the finer grit piece of sandpaper. Scrub the surface of the lens for about one minute and wipe away any residual polishing compound with a paper towel.
- 5). Apply a small amount of polishing compound to one of the soft cloths. Polish the surface of the lens with the soft cloth for about one minute.
- 6). Spray the polished lens with the spray bottle and wipe away any and all residual polishing compound with a paper towel. Dry the surface of the lens completely.
- 7). Apply the sealer compound to the other soft cloth. Draw the cloth across the surface of the lens from left to right until the entire surface is covered. Let the sealer compound cure for two minutes. Then go over it with a second coat of sealer.
