Recently I was asking myself this question: What are the best toys you can buy for a one year old? My nephew's first birthday was fast approaching and I wanted to get him a special gift that was fun, a little different and educational.
Trouble was I was having issues finding such gifts.
So I got on the internet and went along to some local shops and did some research into this.
What follows are the types and benefits of the different toys available to one year old children.
At one year old the toys available are pretty unisex.
Of course there may be some pink toys for girls and blue toys for boys but on the whole most of these toys are for boys or girls.
Traditional Toys Traditional toys are timeless.
They are the toys that children have been playing with and enjoying for many many years.
Because of their timeless nature they tend to be made from wood and are generally a lot more durable than some of the modern plastic toys.
What makes these toys so good is that have been tried and tested through the years and we know that kids just love them.
They may appear to be simple or basic but to a one year old they are sometimes the most fun! Bath Time Toys Bath time is an event that occurs everyday and is something that should be good clean fun also! Bathing a one year old can be stressful for both the child and the parent.
A child might not always want to be washed and will play up and moan.
In this instance you will need to keep the child entertained during bath time.
And likewise the baby may seem like bath time is time away from his toys and will play up because of this.
But help is at hand as there are many great toys out there for bath time! From simple rubber ducks to play centers that you can pour and splash around with there is something for every child.
It is best to keep bath time toys separate to normal play time toys as then the child will look forward to bath time to play with that specific toy.
This will allow everyone to keep their stress levels to a minimum.
Walker and Ride On Toys.
As a child approaches his or her first birthday they are just starting to get onto their own two feet and move around more independently.
Some might not be fully walking but holding onto the coffee table or sofas to get around on their feet.
Some one year olds maybe walking and getting around if a bit unsteadily.
If a child is at this stage then some type of walker toys or ride on toy is ideal.
A walk along or push toy provides a great range of learning and confidence building activities.
Not only will they start to strengthen their legs and gain more balance but by walking along assisted their confidence will be building much more rapidly.
It is great to see the smiles on a young child face when they learn to walk around for the first time.
A great walker toy will really help them and increase their smiles! Similarly ride on toys are great fun too.
A child soon tires from walking and maybe would like a change.
Ride on toys can be used both inside and outside and some come with handles that allow the parent to push along the child.
Most children love a ride along toy as it gives them further freedom and confidence and another way of building up their essential leg muscles.
