Isn't there any one solution to all sleep problems? The good news is - probably there is! Sleep was a natural thing for me - till a year ago.
It was so easy to fall asleep anytime of the day - anywhere! I never understood why people found it difficult to fall asleep.
I felt falling asleep was as normal as eating when you are hungry.
When my mom used to have trouble falling asleep, I gave her all the 'advice' on how to conquer sleep.
Little did I know then that I would be in the same boat someday! Once I had my baby, sleep was never the same again.
Sleep was something which I got between feeding my baby - which had to be done every three hours.
That means, I could never get to sleep more than three hours at a stretch.
Earlier, it was easy to get back to sleep after feeding her, but after the initial months, sleep refused to accompany me anymore! And then began my quest for sleep disorder treatments.
There are numerous options available to choose from.
One of them may work for you as well -
- The ancient therapy - count the sheep jumping over the fence.
By the time you reach mid way, hopefully your mind would have got exhausted and decided to switch off, putting you to sleep.
But this isn't 100% successful. - Read a book.
For those whom study textbooks worked as a lullaby, this option could work wonders! - Drink a cup of warm milk.
- Have a warm bath.
This relaxes all your muscles, putting you to sleep (hopefully!) - Talk to your spouse.
There are chances that you could doze off while chatting away! - Avoid high caffeine drinks and alcohol.
- Avoid watching television too close to your bed time.
