- 1). Travel to Vermilion City and present your Rainbow Pass to the sailor at the harbor. Ask him to sail you to Five Island.
- 2). Walk east from the Five Island beach to reach Five Isle Meadow. Travel the path around the edge of the meadow until you arrive at the southeast corner of the island.
- 3). Surf southeast to find an island containing Memorial Pillar, a large stone structure.
- 4). Collect the Metal Coat to the left of the Memorial Pillar. Equip your Onix with the Metal Coat.
- 5). Travel to a Pokemon Center. Talk to the attendant at the Trade Service Desk on the second floor of the building to open a trade link.
- 6). Start another version of “Pokemon” on a second GameBoy Advance. Travel to a Pokemon Center and talk to the attendant at the Trade Service Desk.
- 7). Connect the GameBoy Advance devices with a GBA Link Cable or with Wireless Adapters.
- 8). Follow the on screen instructions to transfer your Onix from “Pokemon LeafGreen” to the second “Pokemon” game. Onix will evolve into Steelix once the trade is complete.
- 9). Transfer Steelix back to “Pokemon LeafGreen.”
