Your kids are a boisterous lot and you need babysitter games to keep them occupied while the babysitter is preparing their meals or washing the bottles. Turning on the television is so easy and convenient but you want their time to be a learning experience. What then should you do? What games will you tell the babysitter to give them? Here are some suggestions.
Coloring Books and Crayons - These can keep the kids occupied for enough time until your babysitter is done with the housework or meal preparation. Choose pictures that appeal to the child, such as flowers and little girls for the girls and soldiers, cars or airplanes for the boys. Toddlers, those kids between one to two years old, are happy with large sheets of blank paper and fat, short crayons for easy handling. Tape the paper onto the floor or table so it does not move around. Older kids can have coloring books and use the regular crayons. Make sure you buy crayons that do not contain toxic materials.
Board Games -These babysitter games are applicable when there are two or more kids to babysit. They also provide lots of fun and teach the kids teamwork, sportsmanship, and patience. Choose age-appropriate board games; there is a wide selection to choose from- Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly, Scrabble, Candyland, etc. be sure to keep the small pieces from the infants and toddlers to avoid accidental swallowing.
Play Dough - Store-bought play dough saves time instead of having to make it yourself. Have a stock of many colors including the bright ones such as red, orange, yellow, blue and green. They are more appealing and the children can mold them into anything they fancy- food, flowers, people, animals- the list is endless. Like the crayons, make sure the dough is made of safe material to avoid negative effects or poisoning.
There are other babysitter games you can have on hand when you leave the kids and the sitter has other chores to do. What is important is that they are safe and happy when left alone by themselves.
