A Brief Look At The Damaging Impact Of Obesity

Many years of research and medical experience show how much obesity is damaging to health. The costs to society in the US is incredible and approaches several hundred billion dollars every year. What appears contradictory is the billions that are also spent on fat loss products on a yearly basis. So there seems to be a war that is being waged for our good health. Of course the food and beverage industry does not help things. The major issue with a lot of foods and drinks is they contain harmful varieties of fat and are loaded with sugar. Obesity typically causes an array of health issues, and here are a couple of important ones.

One of the most significant effects of obesity is type 2 diabetes, and more new instances appear annually. More younger individuals in their teen years are chronically overweight, and doctors are seeing an upward spiral with type 2 diabetes. The onset of diabetes comes about because research indicates a high correlation involving insulin resistance and unhealthy weight. The scenario is made much worse with daily consumption of excessive amounts of sugar containing goods. One very detrimental component used in countless sodas is high fructose corn syrup. There is simply no comparing between high fructose corn syrup and processed sugar.

Common problems concerning joints are seen to occur in very obese people. The primary areas are the weight bearing joints like hips, knees and ankles. The seriously obese person is also at elevated risk for joint troubles such as osteoarthritis. Unfortunately the most common practice of joint replacement is not always a viable option. While huge numbers of people receive joint replacements, there is a higher chance for good results with typical weight conditions. Overweight people just do not always have a good option in this case. At minimal it can be a risky treatment because the heavy weight on the artificial joint can cause problems. The danger here is the heavy load on the artificial joint could cause it to be unstable.

Problems are very common involving the heart and especially high blood pressure. It would seem that almost every major function in the body is challenged. The occurrence of so much fat is simply a huge demand for oxygen which is furnished by the blood. So that consequently causes one's heart to work much harder so it can deliver what is needed. The high blood pressure is simply due to this added demand caused by the extra weight. In addition to the high blood pressure, the heart rate will probably be greater as well.

The problem of being overweight is an all round highly adverse effect on all the body's organs. There are a lot more similarly dangerous problems that can easily result from an obese condition.
