Postira on The Island of Brac - Beautiful All Year Round

Postira is on the northern coast of the island of Brac, it's easily accessible from the mainland by taking a daily ferry service that runs from Split to Supetar.
Due to it's fantastic location and easy accessibility, Postira has developed into a fishing settlement with its own harbor.
New visitors to Postira will be pleased to find abundant home-grown food and excellent locally made wines produced in the very fertile outlying fields.
Postira was founded in the 14th Century; its name derives from the Latin word "Partura".
Recent excavations of the parish church of St John the Baptist have revealed the remains of a former church from the Paleochristian period and in Postira's harbour you will find a series of tall stone buildings such as the Renaissance Palace of Lazanic where the poet Vladamir Nazor was born.
These buildings were built by the rich owners of Brac centuries ago.
You will find that all seasons are perfect times to visit Postira as its beautiful all year round.
During March the almond trees are flourishing and in January the north winds leave the air and sea clean and clear.
Then after that the fig trees and vineyards start to turn green the smells of broom and sage heather fill the air.
During the summer months the beaches and bays are awash with happy people all having a great time in and out of the sea.
In the low season the place is peaceful with only the sound of people working in the nearby vineyards, olive plantations and orchards.
There are numerous delightful bays surrounding Postira that have pebble and rocky beaches which are fringed by pine trees.
The surrounding cliffs are very pleasant for taking a nice walk.
You can also take organized trips to the surrounding area and beauty spots such as; Splitska, Dol, Pucisca, Skrip and Praznice or to the main tourist destinations Sutivan and Supetar.
You can find great accommodation in hotels and apartments, these are both ideal for a quiet, relaxing family holiday.
Some fantastic gastronomic delights await you in Postira, these include sea food, home-made delicacies and famous locally made wines.
The sports enthusiasts among you have tennis and basketball courts at their disposal, while water sports equipment of all sorts can be rented for a reasonable price.
