According to the ESPN.com USA Softball poll, the top three softball colleges in the United States as of June 2010 are University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Arizona and the University of Georgia. All three institutions are known for having continued success in softball throughout the years, both in the regular season and in the annual Women's College World Series Championship Series. - The UCLA Bruins softball team plays in Easton Stadium, which originally opened in 1994 and also served as the practice facility for the gold medal USA softball Olympic team in 1996. The Bruins have won 11 national championships. The team's most prolific personality was Sue Enquist, who was head coach for 18 years (from 1989 until 2006) and who played or coached at UCLA in 17 championship games. As of August 2010, the current head coach of the Bruins is Kelly Inouye-Perez.
- The Arizona Wildcats play in Hillenbrand Stadium and, as of August 2010, their head coach is Mike Candera. Candera, who started with the team in 1991, has won the Pac-10 (the same conference that UCLA plays in) nine times and is the third winningest coach of all time. Arizona last won the Women's College World Series in 2007, which was the second year of a back-to-back championships for the Wildcats. In all, they have won eight championships. The winningest pitcher in Wildcats history is Alicia Howell, who won 134 games between the 2003 and 2006 seasons.
- The UGA Bulldogs play in the untitled Georgia Softball Stadium, which originally opened in 2004 and has hosted three NCAA Regionals since its inception. The Bulldogs started playing softball in 1997 and, as of 2010, they have won two Southeast Conference championships, have appeared in the Women's College World Series twice and have an an overall record of 567-291 since their debut. As of August 2010, their head coach is Lu Harris-Champer, who has been with the team for 10 seasons.
