- 1). Remove all of the grate covers or drip covers on the range.
- 2). Spray an all-purpose cleaner on the range top until the range top is completely soaked.
- 3). Scrub the surface of the range top with a piece of fine steel wool until you remove all caked-on dirt and burnt food.
- 4). Wipe down the area with paper towels to collect the dirt, debris and food residue. Let the range top dry.
- 5). Mask off any areas that you aren't going to paint with painter's tape.
- 6). Sand the surface of the range top with fine sandpaper. This will help the paint attach better to the range top.
- 7). Shake the oven paint can until you hear the ball inside the spray paint can move freely.
- 8). Spray a thin layer of paint on the range top. Hold the paint can 12 inches from the surface of the range top. Let the coat of paint dry completely for 10 minutes.
- 9). Apply a second coat of paint in the same manner and let it dry for 10 minutes. Apply a third coat of paint and let it dry completely.
